The University Craze
I realised i never really blogged about this but currently i'm going through the whole Unviersity Craze what with the applications, personal statements and all. But i've narrowed it down to 3 of the most appealing to me not jsut based on national academic ranking (which so many people seem so blindly concerned about) but also about social life, party scene, food security, location and whether people are hot or not. Props to www.theu.com for providing very very useful information
and as for the three Unis.... PLEASE ACCEPT ME!
Preference 1.: University of Wisconsin, Madison

Location: MidWest US, Next to the Great lakes just below Canada
Colors: Cardinal and White ( I love their athletic uniforms!!!! )
Mascot: Bucky Badger
Ranking: #34 in US, #16 worldwide (doesnt make sense rite but done by different researchers....)
basically i love this place not only because its great academically being one of the best biology programs and research universities but also because its one of the best party schools in US. #1 party school according to the 2005 princeton survery (#4 this year) but still reigns as most beer consumed by students.....(beer is allowed on campus... they even drink it at the cafes and student unions)....
Haha but this doesnt mean i'm gonig there just for the party scene... the location is great.. its at the ithmus of two lakes and has a great scenery. Also its located near Madison which is a metropolis and 3 horus from the buzzling city of Chicago!
Apart from that, theres the great fitness center and theres also the Nelson Tennis Center which is gives this U double, even triple props. Everything sounds good and they make it easy for students to transfer there... i hope the website isnt just propaganda and i will really be satisfied when i get there. So this is my first choice and i really really hope they accept me.
Preference 2: Ohio State University, Columbus

Location: East coast....near pennslyvania under the great lakes.
Colors: Scarlet and Grey
Mascot: Brutus Buckeyes
Ranking: #54 national ranking, #63 worldwide
This uni is great if i'm looking at transferability and INTI academics... because out of my 15 courses i've taken... i can transfer 14... whereas at Madison, i can only transfer 9. And the academic courses seem much more interesting as there are much more general education courses.... and i mean ALOT!!!! But it means i probably hafta spend more time at Ohio which is fine with me. Its a HUMONGOUS campus at 1,700 hectares which is.... i dunno really big. Good academics.... HUGE sporty school which is what i love. They got good athletics and Ohio is alot closer to where Shef, April, Joel and the INTI AUP peeps are going. Means its easier to get to New york! TRL!
Preference 3: University of Minnesota, Twin City

Location: Midwest, Right under alberta.... which means COLD WEATHER!
Colors: Maroon and Gold
Mascot: Golden Gophers
Ranking: #60 nationally ranked... but worldwide rank better than ohio.....(dun ask me....)
Great school too... true urban school as its located in the middle of a city with transit trains to get around campus...(something you don't see often). But its probably necessary since its said to go below freezing during winter days......Which i don't mind... i'll weather the weather! Means skiing rite!!! haha which sounds fun.
I havent done as much research as the other two Unis but i also like this one.....
Bascailly these are the ones i'm going to apply (noticed all the 3 had red, or sort of red as one of its school colors....hmmmmmmm)......
i've also considered
- U of Illinois, Urbana Campaign
- Kansas U: Home of the Jayhawks
-Purdue
-U of Maryland, College Park
- Boston Colllege
- Cornell (my original dream uni)
- UCLA (another dream college which i hope to study my masters or phd some day!)
- UC-davis
- UC-san diego: Hottest science U
- U of North Carolina: top U
I'm rethinking cornell since April so kindly asked me to consider since she's planning to go there... (apart from applying to Havard and Duke.... CRAZY PPL). Not as crazy as Joel though whose planning to apply to wat... MIT? Havard? Princeton? John Hopkins? MY goodness.............
ANywayz, got a looooong way to go. First step is to get all the application material. Which means.... personal statements!!!!!! OH boy..........
