Survivor 11: Guatemala

Well Since my favourite show all time is Survivor as it highlights human instinct at its purerest and exposes the true characteristics of people without the social masks which is something that entrigues me. Its a great show and i've sorta become an expert on survivor strategy, terminology and predictions. So i've decided to do a sort of commentry on all the season i've watched and i'm going to watch. The first season where i've watched every single episode would be Survivor 11 which is held in the Mayan ruins with a heavy Mayan theme. This season consists of 18 people including Stephanie and Bobby John who were contestants on Survivor Palau

SURVIVOR 11: GUATEMALA -THE MAYAN EMPIRE

Episode 1: Big Treak Big Trouble Big Surprise
Basically introduction to the tribes Yaxha and Nakum and as a twist, Stephanie LaGrossa and Bobby John DInkard (Big Surprise )are brought back from Palau to play yet another episode. Also to reach their camps, they would take part in a 10km or something really far march (Big Trek ) which obviously takes a heavy toll on many people. However, members of Nakum (who wins the better camp) take the biggest hits with Bobby John, Blake, Judd and Jim all falling sick while nurse Margeret takes care of them (Big Trouble).

Reward Challenge: Big Trek - won by Nakum - gets better tribe
Immunity Challenge: Paddle Battle - Paddle to boat out to retrieve torches then drag the canoes up a hill by placing logs underneath it while 3 people pull.
Neck to neck at first but Nakum was less cordinated with placing the logs and resulted in Yaxha's victory. Steph's first victory on survivor BTW!!!!!
Tribal Council: Jim is voted out unanimously after he snapped his bicep.
Commentary : Jim didnt really persuade members to keep him and the tribes both decide to keep BJ and Steph as assets to the camp. Basically a steady start to the season

Episode II:
Nakum fairs better with food as they catch fish while Yaxha while having better team unity is straving resulting to eating ants (which steph quickly rejects). Also Danni exposes Gary as an ex-NFL quarterback but Gary quickly denies it and the other tribes believe him (while getting mad at Danni)

Reward Challenge : Web Over Water - Climb under a spiderweb of rope and untie a bag. AFter that jump into the water and swim back allowing the next tribes person to procede. First to retrieve all bags wins reward which is fishing supplies. Judd falls in the water and Rafe is slow to climb out of the water but in the neck and neck end, Blake beats Brian and gives reward to Nakum.
Immunity Challenge: Dragged Through Mud - Basically if you watch RW/RT gauntlet, its reverse tug of war with all the tribes people. As a team it was a draw so it moved to individual reverse tug of war.
Judd vs. Gary - Judd wins handily Nakum 1-0 Yaxha
Brandom Vs. Jamie - Brandom oviously stronger Nakum 2-0 Yaxha
Judd vs. Jamie - Jamie falls and Judd runs to the flag Nakum wins 3-0
Tribal Council: Jamie wants to oust Steh who thinks it dumb to vote her out as they need to win more challenges. Gary wants to vote off morgan who is seen as lazy around camp or lydia who is one of the physical weaker players. In the end, Brian saves Lydia by proposing she is a better camp worker and Morgan is gone.
Commentary : Jamie displaying the first signs of paranoia by wanting to vote of Steph because she's a threat (also showing abit of stupidity cuz they're gonna need her to survive in camp and challenges). Still don't understand why Brian wants to keep lydia around cuz they never explain that but Brian thinks he's a really good player which is sorta true but annoying. Anddd Gary good at lieing ;)

Episode III:
Lydia works harder around camp and as a fishmonger she helps catch fish to feed the tribe. A little humor with Cindy who loves waking up to the noise of the jungle while Judd absolutely hates the howler monkeys. LOL.

Reward Challenge :Blind Build - First, teammates are blindfolded and directed to retrieve stuff and when they collect them all they have to assemble a tent. Nakum falls behind with retrieving but manages to assemble much faster winning comfort items as reward.
Immunity Challenge: Holding Court - Sorta like Netball.... well it is. Nakum performs much better with a Brianna performing poorly causing much fustration with Yaxha members and Lydia runs down the court with the ball (totally hilarious). Danni played superbly scoring 3 times handing Nakum the victory
Tribal Council: Brianna as the physically weakest was voted off with a 7-1 votes.
Commentary :Brianna another weak survivor player with not much to offer goes. Not much going on but we definitely noe who are the power players on Yaxha as Jamie, Gary, Steph make most of the decisions.

Episode IV:
Nakum's victories comming at a price as they are straving with only corn to eat. Yaxha on the other hand are much more nurished. Tribal switches and Gary's true identity nearly exposed by Danni (a sports newscaster) who are now in the same tribe. Amy who injured her ankle in the last challenge felt vunerable and Judd conspires with the former Yaxha members to make it 5-3 which really upsets Margeret.

Reward Challenge :Tribal Switch- No effort challenges, jsut basically people voting for who they thought deserves the prize. Danni and Jamie given an apple as they were voted most in need of food. Gary and Bobby John was given a bath as they were the "smelliest". Judd, Margeret, Jamie, Amy were given a picnic atop a mayan pyramid. Then in the second twist, Brian and CIndy who were voted most tribe pride stayed with the original tribe while the rest swapped. Ohoh... i smell trouble.

New Tribes:
Nakum - Steph, Rafe, Jamie, Lydia, Judd, Cindy, Margeret, Brooke
Yaxha - Blake, Brandon, Danni, Bobby John, Amy, Gary, Brian

Immunity Challenge: Rows and Throws - Paddle out to retrieve Mayan War Clubs, Once reaching shore, players take turn to knock out three tiles with the clubs at different distances. Nakum obtains the war clubs faster and Steph and Danni both knocked out front tiles. Brandon again out-dos Jamie and wins immunity for the newly formed Yaxha.
Tribal Council: Judd betrays his old tribe and votes out Brooke who is seen as the physically weakest. Margeret got really upset.
Commentary : This is the start of the battle between margeret and judd who is himself really disloyal (he himself accuses Steph of being a backstabber when he clearly is one himself). Old Yaxha members are worried as they no longer have the numbers 3-4. Jamie stinks at physical challenges btw.....=.=...Brandon obviously better.

Episode V:
Amy gives Blake the name 'Golden Boy' and Blake starts to rubb some people the wrong way with his stories of getting drunk and with girls (at one point saying his girlfriend's boobs are really big). Brian's pretty happy that Blakes helping to oust himself out.
Meanwhile at Nakum, Margeret fumes at Judd the traitor and Judd doesnt care what she thinks. As a result Margeret remains depressed throughout this episode.

Reward Challenge : Slaves to the Grind - Cut through ropes using a stone at first then a machete to release handles. Then race up the hills and insert the handles then pulling a cart up the hill. When the cart reaches, climb in and cut the rope with a machete and slide down to victory. Jamie struggles with the stone cutting rope and Nakum falls behind and Yaxha mantains their lead winning in the end. Yaxha wins a gator-proof pool in which they quickly cool off in. Jamie feels responsible for Nakum's lost which sort of annoys Steph who is sick of losing.

Immunity Challenge: Whats for Launch -2 teams of three cary a catching net and 1 person would launch balls into the air and the tribe to catch 5 balls first wins immunity. Nakum outplays Yaxha in the end.
Tribal Council: Because he's annoying everyone, Blake is sent home with Brian scheming.
Commentary : I don't really get this tribal council and why they would vote off one of their toughest competators. I get how he's being annoying with his stories but in you wanna win the other challenges you gotta keep him around (in the end they came into the merge 6-4 so i think this was to blame). Furthermore, old Nakum had a 4-3 advantage and why they would give up that advantage made little sense....=/. Danni ater reveals she co-planned Blake's ousting on Survivor: Live. This still makes little sense and probably led to Yaxha's downfall.

Episode VI: Big Ball, Big Mouth Big Trouble
Third Twist of the season with a double tribal council where they would comepte for individual immunity instead. Brandon becomes more aware of things going on and Nakum fights off mosquitos.

Reward Challenge : Boulder Smash - Players push a huge boulder to the opponents zone and first to three wins. Winners of this reward would later compete in an individual immunity as well as enjoying a barbeque.
Yaxha women scores then Nakum men (while Jamie and Bobby John go at it) then 2 consecutive loses for Yaxha hands the victory to Nakum

Individual Immunity Challenge: Sudden Death - Colect three bags and spell out a phrase with the tiles in the bags. Rafe wins his challenge and was given the chance to oversee Yaxha's tribal council as well as voting to save one member.
Tribal Council: A Double Tribal Council

Yaxha's Tribal Council - Brain wants to vote of Bobby John which Gary doesnt understand while Amy feels vunerable because of her ankle. In the end since he was the physically weakest of the group, he was voted off even by his own teamates. In the end Brian is blindsighted and is voted off with Rafe overlooking the whole proceeding.

Nakum's Tribal Council - As the only one outside the alliance (apart from cindy), margeret was voted off but not without some words with Judd who argued with Margeret saying she called him ADD (which in truth was Danni) and she accused him of being disloyal. Judd unofficially loses the argument when he tells Margeret to just shut up. haha.

Commentary : Obviously Yaxha a much more unified tribe as they now vote together. Brian IMO thinking abit too much for the game and thinking too ahead that he was oblivious to wat was presently going on. Judd coming off as a jerk in this episode and this marks the beginning of Rafe's success in challenges. Not that much of a shocker twist but still interesting.

Episode VII:
Amy, Bobby Jon, Brandon all hurting from the challenges and Judd happy with Margeret gone : "Hopefully, I'll be laughing my ass to the bank, and she will be home making chicken wings or something."
Its also Danni's birthday today and they invite the other trive to their pool which some accepted happily while Jamie and Cindy reluctantly joined. Jamie remained quite and didnt want to mix with Yaxha which didnt sit well with his tribemates.

Reward Challenge : Spooling Around - Something to do with wrapping everyone with ribbon and then unwrapping. Basically Yaxha wins a jungle zip and a CHOCOLATE FEAST!!!! nice reward ;)
Immunity Challenge: Tomb Raidors - Retrieve puzzle pieces from a sandpit and assemble them. Once again Nakum won sending Yaxha to their 2nd straight tribal council.
Tribal Council: Pre-Tribal Council, Amy tried to get rid of Bobby jon but loyalties remained and Amy was sent off the game. Right after the vote, Yaxha was told to go to Nakum's camp in a sort of mini surprise
Commentary : Nothing surprising about the vote but it puts Yaxha tribe members at a disadvantage coming into the merge 6-4. Maybe they should have targetted Gary as it would give the other Yaxha members more chance at individual immunity but voting Amy would nonetheless still make sense.

Episode VIII:
First Day of the Merge (forming Xhakum)... Yaxha going into it with a disadvantage and the threat of being eliminated one by one. Jamie once again beinng a little bit of a moron by codly greeting the new tribe members. In the immunity challenge he also clearly stated that the it wasnt one tribe but rather Nakum vs Yaxha. Conflicts between Bobby Jon and Jamie continue. Judd and Jamie continues to trash talk about Yaxha members who as outsiders do their own thing.
Also in a fourth twist, a hidden immunity was revealed to be hidden somewhere in the jungle which is not an easy task in some a humongous jungle as Jamie rightly puts it.

Immunity Challenge: Pot Head - Balance a pot on your head the longest to win but you can sit out of the challenge and take part in a feast. Rafe, Steph, Lydia and Jamie chose to partake in the feast. In the tie-breaker, gary sprints to victory. During the challenge, there is bad blood between Jamie and Bobby Jon who argue during the challenge. This continues into Tribal Council where Bobby jon says Jamie has no class. They continue to argue and even Jeff Probst shakes his head.
Tribal Council: Yaxha tries to get rid of Jamie after he told Brandon he was going home. Ultimately, the players followed tribal lines and Brandon was sent home
Commentary : Most intresting about this episode was Jamie and Bobby Jon's conflicts and the tribal council. Also you sorta hate Jamie and Judd more during this episode and feel for the Yaxha tribe members. This is the beginning where Jamie loses the support of his own teammates including Judd who tells him to Shut it.
As for Brandon, its yet another example of those cool, strong young guys with great character to go out right befor the jury because they are abit too passive and lets their teammate dictate whether they stay or not.

Episode IX:
Yaxha in danger and Gary or Bobby Jon is next on the pecking order which makes individual immunity so important. Bobby Jon and Jamie sort of make amends but Jamie is visibly upset of the 'no class' comment and Rafe starts to get irritated.
The search for immunity idol intensifies.

Reward Challenge : ATLATL - Use a Mayan weapon called atatl and hurl an arrow closer to the center. Person with cloest throw gets the best meal while the person with the lousiest one gets the worst. One of the more interesting rewards though it was abit brief. Jamie swaps his fourth place for last as a form of apology which some people doesnt buy and Rafe was happy with.
In the end the winner is Judd who wins Steak and Lobster+Immunity idol clue. Jamie recieves nuts and others get a sanwich, piece of pizza, etc.
Judd finds out the Immunity Idol is not on the ground but he promptly tells everyone its 'definitely on the ground'. Gary later catches Judd looking up at the trees which to Gary is very very suspicious.
Immunity Challenge: Bridge It - First Round, Untie wooden planks and use them to move across a rope bridge. Final round cross a river with knotted ropes. In a convincing victory, Jamie took hope the second immunity
Tribal Council: Gary and Bobby Jon scramble around abit but Gary reveals he has the immunity idol and the alliance changes thigns up and votes of the next physical threat, Bobby Jon
Commentary : Not shocking at all but at least Bobby Jon achieved his life long dream of making the jury. Jamie's starting to undo himself with his attitude and Judd once again, someone who i wouldn't trust if i palyed with him.

Episode X:
Jamies getting extremely paranoid and starts picking fights with people and annoys the heck out of everyone espacially Rafe. While on the reward, Gary tries to change things up by appealing to Judd and Steph to make the final 4 who don't really want to follow and Jamie once again gets paranoid about tht.

Reward Challenge : Mudsldie - Split into two teams, each person is tied to another and must manuevere through a mud course to retrieve some corn and the team which collects the most corn wins. Lydia performs poorly and costs her team the lost. Danni, Judd, Steph, Gary wins a helicopter ride to an estate where they would stay the night and have meals as well as recieving video tapes from home.
Immunity Challenge: Around the bend - Basically just navigate through an obstacle course which Rafe wins.
Tribal Council: Gary feeling abit vunerable as udnerstandable but in the end, Jamie's paranoia irritates everyone so much they vote him off instead. Before leaving, Jamie exclaimed: "Blindsighted! Nice! Now that's how you vote someone off!"
Commentary : Jamie gone crazy in the jungles so his alliance turns on him since they still will have the 5-2 advantage. This is the right move i believe as Jamie would probably have messed everything up (which would have been fun to watch ^^). Gary sparred yet another day.
Jamie's game abit confusing cuz i don't realy get what he was doing but i don't see him winning the game anywayz since he would lose in the final 2 to anyone cept maybe Judd.

Episode XI:
Judd gets upset as noone told him that they were voting off Jamie and makes him question about whether he knows what's going on around camp. Gary tries to turn Lydia to his side but Judd was easvesdropping the whole time and knows Gary cannt be trusted.
A series of events such as knocking Steph out at Reward, listening to Gary's proposal and Cindy decision to take Rafe turns Lydia into an outsider who Steph proclaims to be no longer in the alliance.

Reward Challenge : Shattered Dreams - One of those challenges to piss each other off as they had to answer questions about Mayan culture and winenrs can smash pots of other players. Last person standing wins. Lydia quickly knocks Steph out saying she ate the most which annoys Steph and this argument continues after the challenge. Cindy wins and brings Rafe with her to a feast and massage.
Immunity Challenge: Maya Folklore - Jeff Probst tells a tale of Mayan Folklore about the sun and moon and after that the players race to different booths and answer questions. First to collect all flags after answering the correct answer wins. In this challenge, Rafe narrowly beats Gary.

Tribal Council: Lydia thinks she's going but once again triballines stick and old Nakum takes their opportunity to vote Gary out despite his last ditch effort to enrol Rafe into their group. However before he leaves, he exposes Judd's lie about the immunity idol after Judd proclaimed that he never lied (which essentailly is a lie )
Commentary : Oh boy, Lydia makes a big mistake here and was abit too vocal and loses her way with the alliance. Sometimes you have to play more quietly like Cindy and Danni and only make the move in the right time. By listening to Gary so comprehensively only makes her alliance suspiscious of her so Lydia makes a blunder of moves. Gary ousting no surpise, but asking Rafe to join is abit senseless sicne he's all about being loyal and ethical. If it were me i would approach Cindy by telling her when they reach final 4, she's going and by joining Gary she would be brought at least to the Final 3. She might turn, might not but at least it puts that doubt in Cindy.

Episode XII:
Rafe and Steph question Judd's loyalty since he did lie and turn against his former tribe before. Danni begins to break up the 4 strong alliance and targets Judd.

Reward Challenge : Loved Ones Auction - Everyone is given money and has the chance to auction for rewards. First Danni bids for beef jerky and pays VERY little for that since noone else challenged her. Cindy outbids for milk and cookies while Danni and Rafe shares to get a cheese steak sandwich and Lydia gets mosquito nets. In an important auction, Danni once again outbids everyone for an important clue for the immunity challenge. The final bid was a auction of loved ones, Judd borrows money and wins his wife while allowing Steph and Cindy (who lent him the money) to enjoy the company of their loved ones as well.
In the reward, Steph assures Judd's wife of the strong alliance which will come and bit her in the ass. Mindy, Cindy's twin sister are uncanningly similair but nevertheless amusing.
With Judd, Cindy and Steph gone, Danni approaches Rafe about Judd not being trustworthy and says she trusts Rafe absolutely. Rafe seems convinced. Afterthat, Danni asks Lydia to go talk to Judd and it is revealed that Judd knows who the power player is (Steph) and says if he has to swap allegiences he will.

Immunity Challenge: Watch Your Step - A huge puzzle where the survivors take step by step and lose if there are no more tiles to move to. Danni's clue which she bought was to swap with any player any time in the game. Danni cleverly switches with Steph and promptly wins an all important immunity.
Tribal Council: Pre-Tribal Council, Steph is suspiscious of Judd and Danni tells her he is looknig to vote off the strongest players. Steph believes her and they concoct a plan with Lydia to turn on Judd while keeping it frm Cindy in fears she will tell Judd. In the end, the alliance turns on each other and Judd is blindsighted in probably the best exit of the game ^^.
Judd: " I hope you all get bit by a freaking crocodile, Scumbags!"
haha that is the best moment
Commentary : Danni emerges as a major player and makes all the right moves by ousting Judd. She also cleverly bought that immunity clue which the rest should really have tried to get since you can NEVER get too confortable in survivor. This is the turning point for Danni in the game and she survives after being the only yaxha left.
Lydia's scrambling abit... well it shows she can switch whenever but in terms of big game moves, she's not doing much.
Judd got what was coming since he's a big liar and not trustable. Really dislikable player but if Steph was thinking more ahead, bringing Judd to the final 2 would have guaranteed her $1 million dollars cuz she would have had votes from Danni, Gary, Bobby Jon and Rafe at least.

Episode XIII:
OOOO Cindy furious that she wasn't told about Judd's ousting and she looks to become another victim of the trend. Also, the fifth and probably the biggest twist of this season occurs.

Reward Challenge : Second Chance - Manuvuer througha course consisting of past challenges and first to win gets a brand new Pontiac Torrent! In the finals, Cindy beats Steph to win the car but in a major twist, Jeff tells Cindy about the illusive car curse where the person who wins the car in survivor has never gone to win the million dollars, so if she wants to break the curse, she can choose to keep the car or give one to the other four players!
However, she decides to keep the car which angers Rafe and Danni who 'proclaimed' they would have given it up in a heartbeat.
Immunity Challenge: Pole Dancing - Untie yourself with a set of keys and unwind a length of rope to reach the flag. Stephanie wins by a considerable margin and wins her first ever immunity.
Tribal Council: Pre Tribal Council, Rafe and Danni promised each other final 2. Rafe proposes to get rid of Cindy as she could win in the final 2 while Cindy proposes to get rid of Rafe. In the end, Steph turns on another player and all oust Cindy.
Commentary : Hmmm Cindy's decision caused ALOT of debate among survivor fans. Many ex-survivor players like Ethan and Jenna says that Cindy should have given up the car because it would have at least guaranteed you final 4 or 3 and if you reached the final 2, you remind them you gave them a car and they should vote for you. Others say, even if Cindy gave them each a car, she was going to go next anywayz so better to at least win a prize then have nothing at all.
Hmmm me? If i felt a good chance to win i would have given up the cars since the prize money of final 4 could also be enough to buy a car anywayz and then i would proceed to get rid of Rafe and Danni then take Steph to the final 2. However, her pleads were strong enough and she should have approached Lydia whose votes always go anywhere. But what would have happened, we never know.

FINAL EPISODE:
Final four, Lydia, Steph, Danni, Rafe. Tributes to the fallen survivors and an endurance challenge to be expected.
Perhaps the most comical part of the episode was when the Mayan ancestors came and performed a ritual where they sacrificed a chicken to the gods. After they left, Steph, Danni and Lydia went to retrieve the chicken and eat it (which was forbidden). After that, the biggest torrential storm washed down onto the camp and the three believe that they have angered the gods. LOL.

1st Immunity Challenge : Maya Maze - Huge Survivor Maze, retrieve puzzle pieces frm the maze. Rafe beats out everyone in the end for his 4th Immunity Challenge.
1st Tribal Council : Pre Tribal Council Shuffle, Steph proposes getting rid of Danni since she's a marthon runner and might win the next challenge and Lydia would be least likely to win. Also she feels she has a chance against Rafe final 2 since they backstabbed the same people. However, Rafe had made a promise with Danni of final 2 and in tribal council he stuck to his words (being the ethical guy he is) and Lydia was voted out.
1st Commentary : Oh boy, another one gone cuz of Steph and Rafe but Steph gonna take most of the blame since she's sort of the leader. Rafe would have definitely won had he taken Lydia since Steph would want to take him to the final 2. Too bad he promised Danni who would beat him handily in the final 2. Sometimes, Rafe is just too blinded by being justful that his judgement is impaired.
Also, Lydia should have done more to ensure she stays. She's too passive as a strategist and concentrated too much on providing.

2nd Immunity Challenge : Wibbly Boots - Endurance Challenge, shocker, where they had to balance of a plank that pivots alot. After a while, they would have to let go of one rope than the next. Danni with a clear height advantage beats a tenacious Steph and Rafe who made a mistake. Danni wins final immunity.
In Arguebly the biggest blunder in Survivor history, Rafe releases Danni from their promise. OMG..... d'oh????
2nd Tribal Council : Danni decides on Steph insteads of Rafe and votes Rafe out which Rafe was completely surprised by and promises Steph his vote.
2nd Commentary : Geez Rafe why did you have to get all Captain America then, and why are you so surprised that Danni didnt pick you. Basically, Rafe was his own undoing but even if he made final 2 he still would have lost IMo anyway. Danni was smart picking Steph but Rafe should have pleaded more with Danni instead of expecting her to make the 'right move'
Its too bad cuz alot of people liked Rafe but he honestly made one of the biggest mistake ever.
Final Tribal Council : Danni comes in wanting to be the girl next door while Steph on the other hand, pleads that she played the game better.
Questions from the jury arent that tough except for Cindy's and Judd's
Judd obviosuly furious with Steph says she was a complete back-stabber, 'Backstab this one, backstab that one and crossed the line when you lied to my wife" as he proclaimed. He also said Danni was the best skater he had ever seen since she skated her way through the game but Danni handled his question well.
Cindy wanted to know who they would remove from the jury and Danni was totally honest by saying Rafe since she knew he wouldn't vote for him. Steph, alittle less honestly and trying to please everyone too much by saying Bobby Jon since he was the last person.
Other questions covered integrity, honor and game-play which Steph defends by saying she palyed the game as it was supposed to be played.
However in the end, Danni wins the million Dollars with a 6-1 vote from Bobby Jon, Gary, Lydia, Cindy, Judd and Jamie with only Rafe voting for Steph.
Final Commentary : A decent season which had moments of brilliance but nothing shocking but the personalities in the game was quite diverse.
Danni would no doubt have won since the jury was a bitter jury (unfortunately for Steph). Jamie, Judd, Lydia, Cindy were all blindisghted by Steph so they all voted against Steph rather than vote for Danni. Bobby Jon and Gary being tribesmate of Danni voted for her while Rafe who was voted out by Danni says Steph should win instead. In the reunion, everyone was happy, all the conflict ammended and Judd who still defends himself.

Overall the winner, Danni, played a decent game. Her strategy at one point was outstanding but she became abit quiet after that. She however defied the odds and succesfully broke up the fragile alliance but she was also helped by Rafe who decides not to betray Danni (to his own demise). Steph had no chance of winning and even she knew that but overall this was a very interesting season.
Disappointments? Brian not making the merge since i wanted to know what moves he would have done. Apart from that, not much sicne i was rooting for Danni to win anywayz =P.

Trivia:
- This season has the most unanimous votes off with 10 out of 16 with 3 consecutive.

End of an Era?

As Andre Agassi plays his last professional tournament at the 2006 US Open, one would always wonder whether he has accomplished everything he desires at the end of his career. Maybe another wimbledon title? more david cup turnups? or just plainly spending more time with his wife, Steffi Graf and their two children. Nevertheless, the Agassi Era has come to an end leading to the continuation of another.

Similairly, our lives always enter different eras that produce significant changes that have either shaped ourselves or others around us. Whether the era we're entering is the new era of your 20s or the era of moving to another country, it always brings about changes in ourselves and in the people we thought we knew. The best friends, the girl/boyfriends, the bosom buddies you have once called in your previous era might have long relinquished those titles before you realised. The close friends you once hanged out with probably have compeltely new lives, one that you don't quite seem to fit in. Much like a hexagonal jigsaw puzzle struggling itself into a oblong shaped hole. Sadly, or rather disappointingly, this always happens and one eventually becomes a faded memory, supressed into the subconsious to never be retrieved again.
However, theres going to be those who stick with you, like synthetically produced super glue that doesn't wash away through those hours of oceanic flights. My dear audience, these are the keepers, the people who are likely to form further relationships with even when your staring at the face of zimmaframes, dentures and ADHD medical presricptions. These are the people who will conitnually be in an era that you phase through and evolving into your true life friends.

Somehow having different best friends periodically thorugh the ages is never the msot compelling idea. It sounds good in theory, but doesn't quite work. This will ultimately leave you with a sort of emptiness, a life like a wonderbra : "one that contains everything but holds nothing." Thats why is improtant to achieve the goals and relationships we wish before we proceed to yet another era in life without any regrets. Looking back at Andre Agassi's achievements, an extra wimbledon or two might not hurt, but becomnig a role model and international tennis spokeperson is an achievement in itself. Hopefully the next era of tennis and the next era of our lives will be brighter and much more illuminating than the last.
