I Don't Know why but i love women's tennis WAYYYYY more than men's tennis (possibly cuz i grudginly disliked federer for a while). From the videos i've wacthed, I love the way monica seles plays, the intensity of her strokes, the ferocity of her grunts, the tenacity of her returns, it all amounts to one of the greatest players of all time, a player who plays to win and only to win. Her rivalry with Steffi Graf produced some of the most scintilatting tennis ever and is comparable to the likes of Navratilova vs Evert or McEnroe vs Connors.... but unfortunately, she was shockingly stabbed in the back by a deranged psychopath (i kid you not), what she coulda, woulda, shoulda done..... we shall never know. Eventhough i havent had the privilege to watch her in action, she hasnt officially retired so you never know, i got to watch Hingis play didnt i? =D

A player that resembles Seles in both intensity and decibel of schrieks emitted is Maria Sharapova, who is also very very nice to watch (for more reasons than one). What women's tennis now lacks is the rivalry we witnessed years ago..... Sharapova vs Mauresmo? (Known to me as the men who conned his way into women's tennis) Sharapova vs Henin? or Sharapova vs William sisters (which always produced some of the best matches)?

It looks like a promising 2007 season.
